Hi everyone

I'm a staff member at The Hogwarts Experience, a fantastic forum-based site where you can enroll at Hogwarts, be sorted into a house, take classes, earn points and live the virtual Hogwarts experience.

The site was founded in February 2006, and since then we've had a fantastic member-base build up, but we're always welcoming new members. Here are just a few of the things we have:

• Classes for all Hogwarts subjects. Non-RPG, the classes are set regularly by the Professor of the subject, and you can earn housepoints for your house.
  
• You can sign up to take your apparition test once you reach Third Year, and your OWLs at Fourth Year (determined by post count).
  
• Lively Harry Potter discussion about the books and films
  
• An off-topic section where anything goes (within reason!)
  
• A games section
  
• Friendly and approachable staff members, who are always at-hand should there be any problems or suggestions
  
• An RPG-section on the forums, and a live-RPG chatroom
  
• A normal chatroom which is a great place to talk to your fellow Hogwarts students and friends
  
• Regular challenges, such as fanfiction, graphics, music-video, fanart challenges
  
• Debates on aspects of the Harry Potter books - you can win points
  
• Regular inter-house events. In the past we've had "Battle of the Bands", which was a huge success, "The Hogwarts Experience Murder Mystery" and we're currently in the middle of "Lord of the Dance". Planned events incllude a Quadwizard Tournament and Hogwarts Experience Big Brother

There's loads more to do, and the site is continually evolving. I've been a staff member since it started, and the site has very quickly become an obsession, and I'm sure many of our members would say the same!

I thought I'd update this thread to talk about some things that have happened and is going to happen at The Hogwarts Experience.

It's been a busy yet amazing six months of the site - we now have almost 500 members and have had many great interhouse events which went spectacularly.

The next big event is the Quadwizard Tournament - which begins tomorrow at 6pm GMT, so there's still time to sign up There will be five tasks in which anyone can compete - and it looks to be HE's most exciting event yet.

I'm just going to update on what's been going on at HE and what's coming up over the next few weeks

Our Quadwizard Tournament was a huge success - and the first place winner and two runners-up won loads of points for their houses.

The site's growing daily, we now have over 630 members, and another partner site to go along with The Hogwarts Quill, which was opened a little over a month ago.

Hogwarts Designs is our new graphical art site, where members can display their graphics in galleries, receive comments and critique, find a comprehensive list of resources to aid in graphic making and lots more. There's a Thoughts & Opinions forum, where members can request other peoples opinions on specific graphics, a request section where requests can be placed and filled, and a challenge section where members can set challenges as well as participate in them.

It looks set to be another great addition to The Hogwarts Experience, so why not come along and have a look?

We've also got lots of events and challenges to celebrate Halloween - they've been started off with a House Signature Competition, a "Which Witch is Which Witch (Or Wizard)?" contest, and an RPG Hogwarts Halloween Dance, complete with a Halloween playlist to listen to.

Our newest project has now been released: The Hogwarts Experience Website Awards!

The Hogwarts Experience Website Awards gives Harry Potter websites the opportunity to be recognised in a wide range of categories. There is also a non-Harry Potter site category.

We accept any type of Harry Potter site, even sites that are hosted for free, because as proven with The Hogwarts Experience, free-hosted sites can be a huge success!

So much has happened over at HE since I last posted that I thought I would come and give an update

Our Christmas events were a great success - pushing Slytherin into the lead, closely followed by Gryffindor. It's going to be a race to the finish line now! Big Brother is drawing to a close, with only a few participants still left. Who will be the winner? You can help decide by voting for your favourite to win.

Earlier this week we launched our brand new project. It's going to hopefully involve the whole site, who will work together and produce something truly spectacular. As this is a member's only project, I can't say exactly what it is we're doing, but I guarantee you'll love the idea. Sign up to HE today and look in the "Hogwarts Towers" category. We're all very excited about this new project and would love as many people to participate as possible.

Finally, we've just launched our latest venture, a newly updated Hogwarts Quill. We're now running a proper fanfiction archive, using the eFiction script, and so far it's going well. Just two days after its opening, The Hogwarts Quill has 29 members, 35 stories, 60 chapters and 111,469 words. We're hoping that this archive will be a success, so if you love reading and writing fanfiction, come along and have a look.

Finally, we have one more big surprise lined up for the beginnings of 2007, and we're planning on revealing this in the coming weeks. This last surprise will be really exciting for HE, and so if you want to find out what it is, come along and join today.

On the 21st February we will be celebrating our first anniversary, and there will be lots of fun events and challenges.
