hmm, isnt your real name Zach? if yes, i think i know you from a long time back
you used to be HPB's affiliate back when I was starting out.
Glad to see you got your own domain now though
Anyway, i'd like to point some minor things out from a semantic coder's point of view
1) try using less containers..
ex:
see here, you dont actually need the div... you could directly apply id="lql" to the <ul> element. It may not seem much, but it adds up. I managed to slash over 6kb from my site's template just by removing unnecesary tags...
2) Now this is something which does not affect the visitors, but creates problems with search engines and sites like technorati.
the date doesnt actually need to be in a heading tag because, frankly, it's not a heading... its just meta data which you should put in a <span> at the end of each post and use css to bring to the top.
and try not to make your news headlines as H4, try keeping them at H2..
the
<h2>Home/News</h2>
isnt necessary... just get on to the news straight away
3) Small coding error
you gotta put it as
its a simple mistake, but do try to correct it
But i do love the visuals in the layout
Cheers!
