1) First impression
Nice layout, really has a unique look to it and it invites a person to continue looking at the site. Their is one negative part of the layout. It just gives me the unorganized feeling at the same time of liking it. Maybe a bit wider or have a backing on the right nav and it would look perfect.

2) Content
Your content is pretty good. Their isn't a whole bunch of it but the stuff that is their does its job of informing the reader of what they want to know.

3) Organization
Like I said things just look unorganized. Maybe it it the ad image maybe it is the way things just seem uneven better the news area and the nav bar.

4) Skin/Layout
Not bad but like I said do something with that nav bar to give it live.

5) USP, Unique "Selling" Point
This is something that always gets me. What makes your Potter site different from every other one that I have been too. Nothing. It is sad to say but Harry Potter sites a repetitive try and find something someone else hasn't done. Like how you display your info, the info you cover.

6) Reviewer Comments
overall not a bad site but you have things to improve one. Good luck.

Firstly, take a look at the site again now, i've made small modifications to it. i know some people dont love my new layout ;)  its rather weird, but some people actually think that it looks more like a blog than a site... ( has something to do with having a 2 column layout, according to many visitors i asked...) Anyway, i'm working on that. And as to extending the white part to include the nav bar, well, believe me, it doesnt look pretty....   however, i've made some changes to the organization on the nav bar, hope it looks a bit more organized now...
As to the USP, if you'd read the previous thread on HPB on this forum, you'd know of Project PotterArt, which is going to be the highlight of HPB. It is still under construction, but when complete, it will be a place where all the elite HP fan artists will get to show off their skills and document their works ;)

As to the content, I try to add some more everyday :)

Also, Seeker Awards has 5 nominees now! Nomination ends on the 10th of July! Nominate your site now!!

Sorry if I upset you with this reivew just doing my job.  But anyways...

I did look at this potterart thing.  Its not as unique anymore as it once was.  Also of people have fan art parts their sites and have fan art galleries.  They have places for people to show off their work also...  Its basically the whole people wanted to do the HP encyclopedia all over again cause they think they can do it better than anyone else but it is old and played out.

I mean this doesn't mean that you can't do the fan art thing without success just don't make it your selling point.

@tom,
dont be sorry, aint offended ;)

I know that fan art galleries are old stuff, but i'm building potterart to be something like depthcore where users can actually get critique from some of the coolest hp artists from around the world and improve their own work...  I've already got about 12 artists from deviantart who are interested in helping out once PA is out ;)

Also, I've decided to forsake the old 778px wide layout and move on to a 1000px wide layout :)   Check it out now, I'm sure you'll like it :D   Also, consider nominating Fans of Fantasy for the Seeker Awards

We accept sites only partly dedicated to Hp also ;)

I saw this layout a couple of days ago since I go to hp beyond to look at stuff sometimes anyways.  I must say that layout is absolutely great.  Perfect.  Probably only one thing I would do to correct it, well 2 things.  I would move Sirus in some so that their isn't that space between him and Ron.  The other thing in the nav bar is a bit long for me...  But I love the layout.  Me and Rich talked about it already how much we loved it lol...

@tom, glad you and rich like the layout :p     As to the navbar, well, i cant help if i got much content ;)   I just wanted to increase the user's experience by eliminating overview pages for each book and movie :p

as to the header, i'll see what i can do about it....   keep an eye out, the style changer is coming back to hpb with 3 new layouts soon !! :p

I would suggest with the nav bar a expand/collpase thing like HPFZ has for your books section... I think it would look really nice on your layout.

Well, that method has a few downfalls...
Firstly, using it means i have to add another div into the layouts (which i'd hate doing as i'm a semantics freak) which means unnecessary code. Secondly, its based on javascript which slows down the loading time a bit (I had the expandable menus on V5 of my site...)

Anyway, i'm currently trying to figure out a completely css dependant way of doing it...  Only prob is, IE6 sucks....  it wont take the pseudoclass :hover on li as we all know....

People should get out of the dark ages and STOP using IE altogether...     IE7 still causes some rendering problems...
