I've lately been learning how to code layouts useing (X)HTML and CSS. I've heard the 2 best ways to code are useing Divs or Tables. Personally, I find Divs and CSS to be quite a bit easier to make the base of the layout, but I've been told tables can do some better things. I'm not very skilled with coding in Tables, but I'm sure it won't be very hard to learn.

So I was just wondering, what are some of the benefits of useing Tables instead of Divs to make the base of the layout? Are there any things that Tables can do that Divs can't? I know you can add things like
etc inside of the tables, but I'm talking about the form of the layout, not the content inside.

Hope this makes some sense.

Thanks!
Kevin :)

truthfully, tables are good if you want to center a layout but even then, you can do that with css.

i rarely use tables, i prefer divs because you have more control over the look of the layout.

if you do happen to code a layout in tables, switch it into css as well to cut down the load time

i will write you out a list of the benefits of each but i am a but tired right now

I prefer tables mainly because they are more stable across browsers, however I love layers, divs as well. If you know CSS well, really well, then divs are great. However to stability across resolutions and browsers, I'd stick to tables.

Sorry I took so long to reply, sort of forgot about this topic... life's been busy.

Thanks for the help.

Just wondering, can you link me to a good online tutorial for coding a layout using Tables and CSS together? I've been looking, but all i've found are tutorials explaining about tables, not how to use them and CSS to code a layout.

Thanks,
Kevin
